Busy Little Elves

Cards in the mail thanks to my little elves.
It takes extra long when you ask your mother to describe each and
every family that is receiving a card.

Ho! Ho! Ho!
Big wet nose!
Must be Santa, Santa Peg.

She hates Christmas.

Dear Merry Maeve Christmas

From Saoirse...

Dear Saoirse,

I decided to type this once since you had so many questions.  I hope your mom doesn’t mind that I used her computer.   Here are the answers.  Thanks for asking!

Can I stuff candy in your pillow?
Nope.  It would stick to your hair, girl.  Ask your brother what that is like.

How old am I?
23.  I’m a young elf.

What do I do when I am not at your house?
Well, all year long, I help Santa make toys.  It takes a whole year to get all of that done, you know!   Then, in December, I usually head to your house to keep an eye on things and bring Christmas cheer to you, your brothers, mom and dad and Peg!

Who is my best friend?
Christmas and Jim!  They actually live down the street from you.  Have you seen them?  They live with Caitlyn and Mia.  I steer clear of that Elvis at the McNeela’s. He’s up to no good.    I also love hanging out with my cousin, Uh-oh.  He lives in Oak Park so he can be close to his Grandpa, Sneaky.  I also have a cousin, Timothy Tinsel that lives in the city.  Are you going to his house on Saturday?  They are getting ready for a party.

What is my favorite candy?
Candy canes, of course.

Can I bring you fudge?
Maybe.  We usually make the fudge closer to Christmas.

What is your job?
I’m an elf!  I make toys, eat candy and bring Christmas cheer to all.

What is my height and weight?
That doesn’t stuff doesn’t matter.

Are you on the nice list?

Of course you are!  Really, all children are good in their hearts.  That naughty list doesn’t really exist. Sometimes you might make bad choices, be too silly at the wrong times and mess up here and there, but you are always good in Santa’s eyes.  Try your best and be kind to everyone.  A wise man named Mr. Rogers once said:
“There are three ways to success:
The first way is to be kind.
The second way is to be kind.
The third way is to be kind.”

Choose kindness and you will have nothing to worry about, my love.

Winter Concert

These are, admittedly, bad pictures....but it's hard from afar and I forgot my nicer camera.

Saoirse and Finn had their Winter Concert this week.  Finn could have given two sh%ts that this was his last concert at Ogden.  Very sour about participation...
As you can imagine, Louise was excited to perform and even a little nervous.
She played an instrument and sung with gusto.
Seamus will be on in the Spring!

Dad the Hockey Star

We went to see Mike in action on Sunday.  He repeatedly told us not to be too excited, not to expect much etc....  He did great!  Dad, AKA #47, had four of the 7 fans in the stands that Sunday morning.

Some were walking back and forth along the glass to catch all of the action.

So proud...

Annual Christmas Walk

My babies S and I headed to the Christmas walk while Dad sold trees and Finn marched around with friends.  They insisted on posing with each and every ice sculpture.   These two have been getting along quite well lately.  My "twins"...

And the 6th grade boys.  My, they are all such different sizes at this age!

A Rose Between Two Thorns

Go Cubs Go!

 Up until 12:30 AM!

Happy Halloween!

Keeping up the "Boo" tradition of leaving mystery bags of treats on neighbors doorsteps.
Everyone just loves ringing the doorbell and running away.

Happy Halloween!

Rey (1 of 254 Rey's we saw, but she was the best).

I don't know.  It's Seamus under there is all I can say.

October Update

The Blogger app kept shutting down on my phone for the month of October!  Everything is back to normal so here's a little update.

Mike turned 39!  Happy Birthday.  We celebrated at a Hawks game.

A visit from you!  Lots of card playing, soccer games and pumpkins.

Did someone say soccer?
It's all finally over.  At least the outdoor season, that is.

Saoirse was a vampire in a Halloween Play!

Finn had a knee injury.  Boo.

Saoirse was a in an all-star volleyball tournament.
