School Birthday

Seamus celebrated his birthday at school today with chocolate chip cookies and juice boxes.

Saoirse and I appeared at the end of the day as mystery readers. We read Naked Mole Rats Don't Wear Clothes, The Snowy Day, and We Are In A Book.

Happy Almost Birthday, Seamie!

S-E-A-M-U-S

Seamus is spelling and writing his own name!
Clearly he is very proud.

He is doing very well in preschool. Enjoying his little self, as we knew he would.

Seamus got to take a special guest to school this past Saturday.
Aunt Meg has documented it on her own blog.

Lucky Seamie!

Crafty

Seamus has created quite a gallery of art work at Preschool this year, but this one takes the cake. Check out this spider hat, coupled with a fine necklace of black and orange beads and a pumpkin with his name on it.

Party! Party!

Thank goodness for Christopher Columbus....

It was "big" Ellen's birthday so we all (Mike, Seamus, Sue, Ellen, Stephanie and 12 kids) had lunch and birthday cake at Sue's. Finn came to this party in morning, went to his friend Thomas's party and returned for another round at Sue's.

We went home, put the Fuzz to bed and were inspired to make a scarecrow with our neighbors.

Mom's bottom and Dad's top make a nice combo, don't they?

Ended the day with a Giles/McNeela/Murray pizza party and a few rousing games of Kick the Can, Cops and Robbers and football.

And now everyone is fast asleep.

Great Grandma Gladys

Seamus and Saoirse learned what it would be like to have a Great Grandma yesterday.
We visited Cormac's Great Grandma Gladys Heenan (GGG) at her apartment building in LaGrange Park. GGG is 93 years old and is quick as a fox.

We ate:
Fruit Loops
Chocolate Donuts
Orange Juice
French Toast

GGG let us watch Elmo at in her apartment as well.
Needless to say the trip was a success.

I didn't get a picture of GGG this round. Next time.

Elevator to GGG's apartment.

Probably inappropriate.

All of GGG's residents were THRILLED to see this bunch. We had a great time hanging out in her courtyard entertaining the masses.

GGG's apartment looked exactly like Nan's. It made me want to cry a little...
All of her pictures, even a gold shamrock hanging on the wall and a nice pink recliner for watching her shows. I think that Nan and Grandma would have liked this crazy crew.

We're going back for Halloween.

A Friend of His Own

Seamie had a friend over today who was not
Will
Cormac
Sean
Doyle
Ellie
B
or Finn.

Meet Charlie. The first friend he actually made on his own. Neither of Charlie's parents went to John Carroll nor are they in any way related to us. A real live buddy.

The first half hour was a little rocky while they decided what to do with themselves. Seamus had very clear ideas as to how this play date should go and what exactly they were going to do. Seamus wanted to ride bikes, play baseball and play hockey.

Charlie was overwhelmed by the amount of new (read: other people's toys) toys set before him and wanted to play with them all at one time.

They recovered nicely by deciding to jump in leaves, play in the sand and dig a really deep hole under the swing set.

Seamie is set to visit Charlie's house next time :)

Pigs In Mud

This incident happened two weeks ago. I didn't realize I forgot to post the photos.

Needless to say, this did not occur in my backyard....

This required a shower for rinsing and then a bath for soaking.
I'm not sure the boots will ever be usable again.

Seamus told me it was the most fun he's ever had.

Seamus Owen Goes to Preschool!

Seamus Owen went to Preschool today!
For 30 minutes with his mother...but anyway, he did great!

We kissed Elmo goodbye.

Posed for a few required photos.

And headed to school. Seamus got to play with all of the fun toys, paints, rice tables and playdough for a bit and then sang a few songs and enjoyed a book read by Mrs. Georges.

No one wanted to go home so fortunately we get to return tomorrow!

Bears Game

Dad got tickets to the Bears game at work yesterday!
We scrambled to find a sitter for the Fuzz and off we went on the train to meet Dad.

We of course, ate hot dogs.

And drank lemonade.

Similar to another sporting event we attended, it was 100 degrees with the heat index at
8:30 PM. Whew!

PReschool Mail

Seamus got mail from Mrs. Georges today.
She is anxiously awaiting his arrival next Tuesday :)

Hmmm...

There will be no shortage of photos of Seamus when he gets married and we need to throw a slide show together...

They're back

Well, they're back.

Both boys finished they're Park District sports camps today.
Both received a medal for their stellar participation. Seamus was most thrilled.
"My first medal," he kept whispering to himself.
He was parading it around the neighborhood this evening.

Go, Seamus. Go.

Sweet Meat

Poor baby is "sweet meat" for mosquitos. They just love him.

Little Biker Man

Seamie rode his bike all the way to the Post Office downtown today! His skinny little legs are tired.

Swingin'

Seamie can pump! And Saoirse is trying. It is quite nice not to have to push Seamie on the swing. He is very proud of himself.

Saturday, May 14, 2011

Seriously....

This is Seamie in his PJ shirt, a small pair of Thomas under garments and a pair of navy blue dress socks. While I was changing Saoirse, Seamie was out playing hockey in this outfit. He couldn't quite understand why this was inappropriate.
